Find out where they take their children, whether or not they are happy, and what they feel are the pros and cons of the particular child day care they use. No matter how many tours you take, visits you make, or articles you read, there is no substitute for talking to someone who has actually left their child with someone.

Secondly, when looking for child day care centers, don’t be afraid to drop in unannounced. When you pay surprise visits, you see what the center is truly like. Pay attention to how the children seem; see how the staff seems, and get a feel for the atmosphere of the place. Once you get past safety and cleanliness, there is a lot to be said for how a place “feels” when you are there.

Finally, day care centers are very personal. If you don’t like a place, you don’t need a reason. This is a place where you are going to leave you little one alone with others.
